Thesis is devoted to defining the most favorable agroecological conditions for growing buckwheat in the Right-Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine which ensure seed production. A new trend in buckwheat seed raising is theoretically grounded and practically realized by the creation of optimal ecological and agrotechnical conditions during the period of buckwheat seed development. It is found that the technology of producing high quality buckwheat seeds must be founded on such factors as selection of the best predecessors, application of an integrated nutrient management, optimal terms and seeding mode, harvesting and storage. Some methods of seed raising which take into account the indices of laboratory and field germinating capacity and water-consumption of plants and ecological factors are suggested. Main results of the research were used in working out the technology of buckwheat seed growing on the agricultural enterprises of the region.
